Saphor Sin, 23, was sentenced last week to 10 years in jail, with a minimum of seven years, over the death of a man in an August, 2005 gang fight in Liverpool CBD.His name is spelt Sophorn Sin in another article. The fight was started by an "aggressive bump". That's all it takes in a melting pot where tensions are always simmering, just waiting to boil over.
Sin pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter in relation to the stabbing death of 18-year-old Samir Chouman.
Chouman died as a result of injuries sustained in a fight which started in a Liverpool shopping centre and finished in Macquarie Mall.
Liverpool police Detective Sergeant David Brown said both men Sin, of Bonnyrigg, and Chouman, of Busby were members of Asian and Lebanese gangs, respectively.
The court heard that the fight was sparked by racial tensions between the gangs.
