Stabbing violence grips Sydney

August 05, 2008
SYDNEY is in danger of being engulfed in the type of knife violence gripping the UK, community leaders and victims said yesterday...

It comes as the Bureau of Crime Statistic imposed exorbitant fees to compile information about crime in NSW - which used to be free...

St Vincent's emergency chief Gordian Fulde said reports had shown a jump in stabbings: "In recent published literature, what we are seeing in hospitals is increasing in Sydney and Melbourne - it doesn't seem to be reflected in police statistics." ...

Tony Brosnan, whose student and friend Luke Hankey, 24, was stabbed to death in the carpark of a Central Coast pub after enjoying a drink with family and friends in October last year, had a stark warning.

"It's coming," he said of the stabbing violence in London.

"There is no discipline in society, as a teacher I have seen all the changes, there is no fear in kids any more..."
