Asian gangs in Sydney embrace diversity?
November 03, 2008
ASIAN crime gangs responsible for murder, scalping and kidnapping have launched a recruitment drive among ordinary Western Sydney teenagers. What an odd coincidence to find, just days after the racial tension over Richard Saunders' death in Brisbane and, in Melbourne, Bob Falconer's call for recognition of the 'indisputable' racial nature of gangs, that this Sydney article finds our gangs embracing diversity. Ain't no racial gangs here in Sydney folks, nothing to see, move along. No, really ...
Leaders of the Yee Tong and Sing Wah gangs have slipped into the country from China using student visas and are expanding their criminal base to include disaffected Islander and white teens.

Rudd's vision for an Asian Australia
August 12, 2008
More to the point, how will Australia react to the Chinese influence washing over our country. Sinophobia rising.
KEVIN RUDD has unveiled his vision for Australia to become the most "Asia-literate country" in the West. All these forces washing, rising and unfolding - Rudd's a follower of trends who stands for nothing. He's happy to be washed, unfolded and shaped with whatever force happens to ebb or flow - liberalism or sino-fascism - hey, whatever unfolds, we'll be riding it.
In a speech in Singapore today, the Prime Minister pledged to boost the investment in the study of Asian languages and culture in schools and universities...
"The rise of China in particular represents the great unfolding drama of this new century,” he said.
"Will China democratise? How will China respond to climate change?
"And how will Chinese culture adjust to the array of global influences now washing across its shores directly and through the agency of the greater Chinese diaspora?”
Mr Rudd said how China responded to these forces "would radically shape the future course of our country".

35 years on, I still fight racism - Patti Chong, WA
July 24, 2008
For more than 20 years, I have championed for a diverse magistracy and judiciary ... but all we get are the WASPCs (White Anglo Saxon Protestants/Catholics) and WECs (White European Christians)...A commenter notes:
Possessing the qualities befitting of a member of the magistracy and judiciary are the least important factors, so it seems. I know because for 20 years I have applied for every advertised vacancy in the magistracy...
I have remained silent all these years, but by speaking out, I hope to pave the way for the future CALD lawyers coming through the profession to be recognised for who they are and not be judged on the colour of their skins.
... in the context of Dr Peter Wilkinson's book The Howard Legacy, I lose the subtle and just become entrenched...Sinophobia? Yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes.
With the prospect of an Asian elite endangering our national sovereignty, I can sense a future where Sinophobia outdoes Islamophobia in this country. In which case positions in government, judiciary and the military will be guarded as fiercely as secular Turkey guards against Islamists.
Man jailed over Liverpool stabbing death, NSW
2/07/2008 (scroll down to read article)
Saphor Sin, 23, was sentenced last week to 10 years in jail, with a minimum of seven years, over the death of a man in an August, 2005 gang fight in Liverpool CBD.His name is spelt Sophorn Sin in another article. The fight was started by an "aggressive bump". That's all it takes in a melting pot where tensions are always simmering, just waiting to boil over.
Sin pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter in relation to the stabbing death of 18-year-old Samir Chouman.
Chouman died as a result of injuries sustained in a fight which started in a Liverpool shopping centre and finished in Macquarie Mall.
Liverpool police Detective Sergeant David Brown said both men Sin, of Bonnyrigg, and Chouman, of Busby were members of Asian and Lebanese gangs, respectively.
The court heard that the fight was sparked by racial tensions between the gangs.
