Street brawl: armed Sydney teens charged

August 13, 2008
Five teens charged over a street brawl were found sitting in a car with a shortened firearm, a samurai sword and a hunting knife, police say.

Police were called to a street fight at the intersection of Palisade Crescent and Bunker Road, Bonnyrigg, in Sydney's south-west, about 12.30am, police said.
Closing 'crime corridor'
13 August, 2008
FAIRFIELD police will target specific areas through Operation Reclaim, a three-month operation aiming to reduce crime.

The operation, launched on August 1, involves police patrolling the Stockland mall and Bonnyrigg Plaza area, and the 5km road between the two shopping malls, known to police as the "corridor of crime".
Fairfield is diverse: Asians, Lebs, and a whole lot more. This smells of the surge mentality in Iraq: yeah it might help for a while, but is there any hope of a permanent force of good taking control?
