Four charged over drug chemical import

August 15, 2008
A Sydney drug bust that uncovered 662 kilograms of pseudoephedrine hidden in fruit juice boxes is the latest move in a massive crackdown on Australia's illegal drug trade, police say.

Customs officers at Port Botany found the pseudoephedrine, estimated to be worth $52 million, in a shipping container from Thailand last Friday...

Daniel Saba, 29, from Oakhurst, is charged with importing and supplying a commercial quantity of the chemical precursor commonly used to manufacture the illegal drug ice.

Castle Hill man Eamad John Saba, 28, is charged with importing a commercial quantity of the chemical.

Yousef Jidah, 30, of Blacktown, and 21-year-old St Marys man Ryan Kapral both faced one count of supplying a commercial quantity of the precursor.
