A report from the Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission says Dandenong's Sudanese community is experiencing a disturbing amount of racism.

Video: bill of rights debate reignited

10 Dec 2008
ABC News video.

Janet Albrechtsen and Tony Abbott are concerned. Abbott:
Proponents ask: who could be against rights? In fact, everyone who believes in the role of parliament should be against allowing judges to invent new rights. Bills of rights are left-wing tricks to allow judges to change society in ways a parliament would never dare. Even the British Labour Government is now having second thoughts with the Home Secretary saying that rights legislation has become a “villain’s charter”.

Dissatisfaction with immigration grows in Vic.

Swinburne University
People and Place Journal
Volume 16, Issue 3 (2008)
Katharine Betts
Immigration has increased considerably since the late 1990s and between 2004 and 2007 the proportion of voters who want the intake to be reduced rose from 34 per cent to 46 per cent. While support for a reduction was highest in New South Wales, this support was already high in 2004. In relative terms support for a reduction rose most strongly in Victoria. This may be because, over the four-year period, Melbourne absorbed a greater proportion of Australia’s population growth than any other region. Despite growing electoral disquiet, the new Labor Government is increasing the immigration program to record levels. (Abstract)
Swinburne Uni Research News
From a conventional economic perspective these years were rosy, so it is unusual to see support for immigration decline so steeply in such circumstances. According to Betts’ “one possibility is that the immediate negative consequences of rapid population growth became evident to more people: rising house prices and rents, pressure to increase residential densities in previously low-density suburbs, increased congestion on the roads, pressure on hospitals and health services and overcrowding on public transport.”

These changes were felt most in Victoria: “This may be because, over the four-year period, Melbourne absorbed a greater proportion of Australia’s population growth than any other region,” said Betts.

Despite this growing electoral disquiet, the new Labor Government is increasing the immigration program to record levels. The total planned permanent intake for 2008-2009 stands at 203,800.

According to Betts’ report, the demographic trajectory that the new Government has committed itself to has minimal electoral support. “Urban congestion and declining housing affordability suggest that the disjunction between this policy and popular feeling may not be easy to ignore over the long term."
Apart from congestion, other explanations probably don't pass the PC filter to get a mention by Betts. Like, as the amount and degree of diversity increases, so does the backlash. Isn't that what Professor Putnam found? It could just be Melbourne catching up to Sydney.

Melbourne's African intake has increased in recent years. Would that rate a mention by Betts? 40 percent of Australians believe that certain ethnic groups do not belong here (Middle Easterners and Africans rating high). Wouldn't it make sense that if you have more African immigrants then you might also have more of a backlash? You'd have to pay $16 to find out if Betts mentions this, but I'd say it's unlikely.

Nope, humans, according to much of academia, only concern themselves with economics and infrastructure. Racial solidarity, linguistic cohesion, crime, culture, and religion are all capable of "disjunction between this policy and popular feeling" but they don't pass the PC filter to rate a mention. Such is the socially vacuous state of our PC filtered universities.

300 babies in SA exposed to tuberculosis

9/12/2008
Live News
A foreign doctor at Adelaide's Women's and Children's Hospital has tested positive for tuberculosis (TB), putting up to 300 babies at risk.
Yahoo News
Immigration Department official Sandi Logan says the doctor had a medical examination and chest x-ray in India by an approved doctor before coming to Australia and the results were clear.

Who is fit to tour Australia?

22 Nov 08
News Weekly
Communist China's chief political enforcer, who also stands accused of being its pre-eminent exterminator, has been touring Australia.

The little-known Zhou Yongkang has taken the unusual but ominous step of visiting Australia unannounced on what was in all likelihood a fact-finding trip directly linked to his repressive policing duties.

The highly unusual visit sparked protests and questions about why someone with such a murderous record was permitted to enter Australia.
The West Australian
Victorian Opposition Leader Ted Baillieu has called for the federal government to reject the visa application of British white supremacist leader Nick Griffin ...

Mr Baillieu said he had written to Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Immigration Minister Chris Evans calling on them to reject any application by Mr Griffin to come to Australia.

Mr Griffin openly seeks to undermine cultural, religious and racial harmony,” Mr Baillieu said.
The Rudd Government must refuse entry to convicted racist
The Hon Dr Sharman Stone MP
Shadow Minister for Immigration and Citizenship
The Federal Opposition is urgently calling on the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Chris Evans, to refuse any further visa application from British national, Nick Griffin.

Mr Griffin is well known for his deeply racist views and public statements that amount to religious and racial vilification.

He was convicted of inciting racial hatred in Britain in 1998, and soon after was refused entry into Australia by the then Coalition Government.

“It seems however, that the Rudd Government has refused Mr Griffin’s electronic visa application, but the Immigration Department has now invited him to submit a formal application in writing.

Dr Sharman Stone, Shadow Minister for Immigration and Citizenship has stated that: “Given his past criminal conviction, and the fact that Mr Griffin has been sponsored by the Australian Protectionist Party to visit Australia on a lecture tour promoting his racist views, he should quite simply and categorically be denied entry into the country.”

Mr Griffin’s views are abhorrent and totally unacceptable in a tolerant and peace loving society like ours. “ Dr Stone said.

“Minister Evans must act swiftly and decisively, making it clear that no Australian government will ever welcome or tolerate people like Mr Griffin.”

“Mr Griffin is not wanted in Australia and I call on Minister Evans to instruct his department that he will not approve of any visa application from him, no matter what its format, or form,” Dr Stone said.
Have Baillieu and Stone condemned China's "Heinrich Himmler" who, rather than seeking to "undermine ... harmony", allegedly already has a body count on his resume? Not likely.

So why not? How does the high moral ground of tolerance morph into kissing the posterior of murderers? Economic interests? Blind spot for third worlders who just need some time to see the light? Who knows.

But perhaps the message we get from this inconsistency is that, behind the gleaming smiles of the new moral order of tolerance, lurks a morality of convenience that will run away when put to the test. A moral order lacking in a definable identity and the social cohesion necessary to defend "a tolerant and peace loving society like ours". A moral order still vacuously defined only in terms of what it isn't (Nazi), so that it is unable to defend itself.

Lawrence Auster
... there's yet a further parallel between Germany and America in the thinking of liberals and leftists that makes them want to destroy both of those countries. As Otto Frank put it at the end of the World War II (in which his entire family had been murdered), what was wrong with Nazism was its "intolerance." But, as I've written previously, if mere "intolerance," rather than dehumanizing murderous brutality, is what defines the ultimate evil at the core of Nazism, then "intolerance" is a terrible threat to humanity and must be eliminated everywhere. Intolerance, unlike Nazism, exists in all countries. Wherever there is a distinct national identity, for example, there is implicitly a lack of tolerance for other national identities in the same territory. Therefore America, which has a strong national identity, is as threatening to the human good as German national identity, and therefore the American nation has to be eliminated along with the German one.

We love Blacktown

November 18, 2008
Daily Telegraph
TIRED of being looked down on, sneered at and mocked, the people of Blacktown are wearing the region's name with pride...

"I was born in Blacktown Hospital and have lived here for 16 years. I have never been stabbed, I've never seen a stabbing or a crime. People here are good, civilised, unpretentious and genuine.
Ain't no tired persecuted minorities anymore. Obama fixed all that. Elbows out, chins up. We is takin over. (the photo is not quite right, Blacktown is blacker than that)

Video: Alan Jones on Daniel Awak killing

We are not a multicultural society and never will be.

We're a multiracial society.

We don't much care where people come from, but they need to be told we are monocultural.

Come to Australia and you live under the Australian umbrella.

And if those conditions are spelled out before people arrive, which of course they're not, then we have a reason to get rid of them when they don't behave.
Well, duh, if you get enough immigrants then you get defacto multiculturalism anyway. France doesn't have multiculturalism, officially anyway, yet they're still burning. Tell him he's dreamin.

Alan Jones' solution only makes the problem worse in the long run, because it promotes unlimited immigration. I do much care where people come from, because it does much effect quality of life.

2007: Hills district crime blamed on mortgage stress

4/12/2007

Whilst googling about the Richard Carruthers death (for which Marcel Halabi has been arrested) I noticed this piece of fantasy journalism from Hills News.
Sydney's Bible belt is known for its McMansions, aspirational voters and enthusiastic church-goers. But the conservative, affluent Hills district is also in the grip of a crime wave - and mortgage stress may be behind it ...

There have been five murders in the past two years; there were none in the five years before that. They include the stabbing murder of Richard Carruthers, the 36-year-old redesigner of the Olympic cauldron, in his Castle Hill home.

Three of the murders remain unsolved.
We know that certain ethnicities are over-represented in crime, and the article admits that the demographics of the area have changed. But does this fact get a mention by the genius journalist? Nope. It's aaaaall mortgage stress.

Nixon: society has reached a "tipping point"

Nov 24, 2008
Christine Nixon (via Andrew Bolt)
This is hard to explain in isolation. It has been suggested that society has reached a "tipping point" where the social and cultural developments have come together to create conditions conducive to violence.

The storm that has been gathering for years is upon us ...

The most worrying trend is the steady decline of respect and empathy ...

A push or a shove that once would come to nothing had begun to spark levels of violence police had rarely seen before ...

But it is not something police can solve on their own.
The Social Capital Crisis marches on.

Diversity and anarchy: resulting from our failure to maintain unity. Fostering unity is still our biggest problem. Unity for white folk, that is. If we can't unify ourselves and restore a positive white culture then we certainly can't help solve anybody else's problems.

'TV soaps have White Australia policy'

November 15, 2008
Courier Mail
University of Queensland Aboriginal studies lecturer Sam Watson said the dramas were operating an "exclusive white family club" that didn't reflect Australia's true demographic...

Aboriginal MP Marion Scrymgour, who is Arts Minister for the Northern Territory, said people in indigenous communities needed greater representation on television...
At the same time as these pundits are happy to see white TV turn brown, they no doubt would praise the new national Indigenous television network ("for and by indigenous people") as a good thing.

So, if it's good for Aboriginals to have their own TV, wouldn't that make it bad for whites to see their TV turn brown?

If it's equality you seek, then you can't build up your own homogeneous TV station without respecting whites' right to the same.

If it's equality you seek, then if whites can't maintain their dominance over national TV then you would at least grant them the right to their own white TV channel.

But does that enter the brains of these two intellectual giants? I doubt it.

These type of responses raise the questions of: whether these folks do have equality on their minds; and, if Australia has an Obama moment and elects a non-white leader, would they then give a hoot about white rights? Or would they want whites to feel what it's like to be a persecuted minority? "Kick em when they're up. Kick em when they're down"?

The "true demographic" that Watson talks about is one where white Australians live, work, school and study with informal segregation. As one young couple said about leaving an immigrant area: "We didn't want to bring up a family in that sort of area".

I'd say that makes TV's "exclusive white family club" an accurate representation of white life in Australia. Diverse TV programs are, in the main, an unrepresentative fantasy world. So, by all means, create a fantasy channel for the part of Australia that embraces diversity. But give us our white TV that represents real life for most white Australians.

Fears our crime being imported

March 09, 2008
Herald Sun
... those born in Somalia, Lebanon and New Zealand had the highest crime-per-population rates in Victoria... followed by Turkish, Vietnamese and then Australian-born criminals...

The Crimes Victims Support Association has called for migrant groups committing less crime to be favoured over "high crime" nationalities.

Spokesman Noel McNamara said migrants should be deported on their first offence and there should be a cooling-off period for citizenship.

"We should be much stricter on who we bring in," Mr McNamara said.
"A man with an experience is never at the mercy of a man with an argument".

Fewer volunteers in migrant suburbs

February 11, 2008
The study, by Ernest Healy, senior research fellow at the Centre for Population and Urban Research at Monash University, challenges the notion that ethnic diversity leads to a stronger, more cohesive society.

"When you create societies from mixed backgrounds it may not lead to overt violence … but to something scarier, a withdrawal from the civic sphere," Dr Healy said, "a feeling of less connectedness." ...

The findings appear to support research by Robert Puttnam, of Harvard University, that ethnic diversity can hasten a withdrawal from "collective life".

Dr Healy said the assumption multiculturalism would automatically lead to strong cohesive communities without government assistance may have been naive.
Sounds great up until the last line, which then implies that the natural policy conclusion is for government assistance. But isn't a more prudent policy to stop diversity altogether? The bigger your immigrant community, the bigger the disconnect.

NSW Ambulance no-go zones

November 03, 2008

AT least 350 homes and streets in NSW are deemed no-go zones by ambulances because they are deemed so violent a police escort is needed.

Topping the blacklist is inner-city Redfern ...

The Newcastle suburb of Windale and Inverell in the state's northwest also have some of the highest number of violent residents.

Are we in a social capital recession or depression?

Parking fine anger turning violent in NSW

November 02, 2008
"We're aware of some people having their teeth knocked in, they've sustained ongoing injuries from knife attacks, some (have been) threatened with guns, some have had their families threatened, had rocks thrown at their houses, their vehicles attacked," USU research officer Lyn Fraser said.

"It's a very, very serious problem and people have the right to go about their work without those threats of aggression or violence."
Has anybody seen the social capital? We seem to have lost it somewhere. You might even say we have a Social Capital Crisis. Time for a bail out, Mr Rudd, not time for more high-stakes gambling.

Do the Greens weep for victims of immigration policy?

October 28, 2008

A post at the Realists lists a few of today's victims of immigration/diversity, followed by a Greens call for a Royal Commission into the alleged death of 20 rejected Afghani asylum seekers. If all the domestic victims of diversity-driven crime were stacked up, they would well outnumber 20. Would the Greens also call for an inquiry into diversity and immigration policies? No. But we know consistency isn't a virtue, for some.

Diversity, no matter what the domestic cost: that's the real Greens policy.

Indigenous TV channel begins broadcasting

Oct 27, 2008
A national Indigenous television network, established by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders last year, will begin broadcasting on digital channel 40 to homes in the Sydney metropolitan area from today.

NITV is the latest free-to-air digital channel, along with ABC2, SBS and channels 7, 9 and 10.

Its publicity material says the channel features "a daily news and weather service created for and by indigenous people, award-winning sports programs, stunning dramas, insightful documentaries, cultural programming, music events, children's shows, hilarious comedy, indigenous lifestyle and reality series and entertaining movies".
That's great. But are the same rights afforded to whites? No. White TV is just lambasted as hilarious or hideously white and turns browner by the day. And whilst indigenous are granted land rights, is the same afforded to whites? Can the people of Camden resist the Islamification of their area? No. Consistency is not a virtue, apparently.

Scarborough brawl sparks calls for fixed police post

9th October 2008
A City of Stirling councillor wants a permanent police post at Scarborough Beach following yesterday’s beach brawl that left a 39-year-old man with a fractured jaw, cheekbone and lacerations.

Coastal ward councillor Bill Stewart said he would like to see a fully-manned police post operative on the beach from October to May, along with random horse patrols and increased State Government contribution to the beach’s infrastructure projects.
Diversity: the permanent police state. The papers reported an incident between a 39-year-old man and five African youths. A commenter suggests the 39yo man raised up a group of 20 whites for a second round of fighting. Whatever. Everyone is looking for someone to blame, but the real culprits are the politicians and global village advocates who keep peddling the diversity ideology despite a significant percentage of people explicitly rejecting it. Denial doesn't solve anything.

Noble Park 3174

September 15, 2008
WITH about 60 per cent of its residents born abroad, Noble Park is one of Melbourne's most culturally diverse suburbs.

It has large Vietnamese and Cambodian communities, and in recent years has experienced a big influx of arrivals from India, Sri Lanka and Sudan...

But the area has also had its share of bad publicity involving crime and ethnic tensions.

Last year local police targeted North African youth gangs over a string of assaults and robberies.

Noble Park resident and City of Greater Dandenong councillor Alan Gordon says the publicity is disturbing for locals.
Ha ha, the "publicity is disturbing". Not the violence, no, just the publicity.

Celebrating the joy of Islam in Debney Park

October 2, 2008
LITTLE girls in colourful headscarves and others with braided hair scream with joy as they spin around on the Hurricane carousel ride.

Boys in tracksuit pants chase balls while their mothers — Palestinian, Lebanese, Turkish, Somali, and everything in between — happily chat on picnic blankets.

Men in traditional long dress and others in jeans sell tickets for the rides and keep the kids entertained.

Welcome to a very Australian celebration of Eid al-Fitr, the holiday marking the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
So why do I feel like running in the opposite direction? I must be one of those 46 percent who feel that some groups don't belong here.

Study reveals Australian racist views

Sep 29 2008
Forty per cent of Australians believe some ethnic groups do not belong in the country with one in 10 having outwardly racist views, a new study shows.

NSW tops the list with racist views, but lead researcher on the project Kevin Dunn puts it down to Sydney being the focus of international migration to Australia...

NSW topped the list with 46 per cent of survey respondents saying some ethnic groups should not be in the country. The ACT had the lowest such response with 28 per cent...

"The most often-mentioned groups were Muslims or people from the Middle East."
If only those who feel Muslims don't belong here voted for parties that oppose Muslim or non-white immigration. Consistency is not a virtue, it seems.
Next in the "not belonging" list were indigenous Aboriginals followed by black Africans. In recent years, there have been an increasing number of immigrants from Sudan, Somalia and other African countries.
So Muslims and Africans are near the top of the "don't belong here" list, and they also happen to be the highest breeders. Prognosis negative...
